From all that you guys are saying, it sounds like a good machine, once back on it's feet.
I'm starting to think, that I'll be feeling guilty, if I take it for free. I don't like to feel that way, and
certainly don't want to take advantage of my freind.
So, from the few pics you've seen, and the little info I've told, what would be a fair dollar to give him?

If he new it ran and moved when it was parked, I would easily give $300 for the tractor, mower deck, tiller and blade. Might even go a little more if it was for "sale" somewhere ($500 not running, package worth an easy grand if running and all works). But if he wants to give it to you, you may be lucky to get him to take anything $$ :)

Since he offered it for free, I'd say offering $200 would be plenty. He may even refuse it. I will say that a LOT of stuff given to me ended up costing me a lot of money to get going, so don't go too high.

I have only noticed that crack on the later versions.

Later versions would be the 'gilson' version? Because my Jake frames don't even resemble it...I'll grab a pic tomorrow for ya...I checked mine today and there was nothing remotely similar...

Thanks. Yes, I was thinking a couple hundred. I hate it when stuff like this
comes back to haunt you in the future. In the end, no hard feelings.

Good Stuff on the Ford, I don't know anything about them but sounds like the one your getting can be fixed up and put back into service.

No ,on the later Jake versions, with the side panels. I have 3 of the open sided (old ones) and all are fine, and 3 closed sided units, all but the 100 (manual trans) had cracked in that spot. Never owned a Gilson made Ford.

I think it is mainly the closed side units, but doesn't hurt to look things over!

Will, the tillers alone go for good money . I've seen the tractors with decks only for 3-800 up here depending on condition.

Cool that you scored this, probably the right thing to do is to get it running then walk up to your pal and had him some $$$. Then restore it and show him how it turned out. That way everyone is a winner, you have a cool tractor, your friend got some money for something he never expected a cent for. And you have the love of your labor into this wonderful tractor...Winner all the way around. How is it coming, I know I commented on this thread some time ago and haven't seen a real update on the tractor, or maybe you did and I missed it...

NutCASE, I haven't had time to pick it up yet. Maybe next week.

Harry, Thanks for the offer. :smilewink: I'll keep it in mind, but I think he'd be upset, if I ever got rid of it. :smilewink:

Hope to go get it early next week. Too much on the go just yet, to run away from work
for the day.
