Okay Who really built the 85/1200/1450/1650/1655/1855 series massey/snapper tractors?

^^^ This indicates the Massey 1855s were only produced in 1977 and 1978.  IF that's correct, it does validate the assumption that the early 1855s ('77-'78) were made by Massey, and the later ones ('79 - '8?) were made by Snapper.

 

Tractor data also had this interesting information:

 

"Snapper started in 1894 in Georgia as Southern Saw Works. As the Georgia lumber industry declined, the company purchased the patents to Snappin' Turtle lawn mowers, and began producing them in 1951. Snapper was purchased by Simplicity in 2002, which was then purchased by Briggs & Stratton in 2004. "

 

Can anyone verify or deny that?
