Rat, :welcome: to GTTalk.
Sounds like you have a project on your hands, but at least you have an FF series.

I would contact our site sponsors, if anyone can help here, it's probably one of them.

Their contact forums are here: http://gardentractor...-site-sponsors/

Welcome aboard, rat88! Glad you grabbed that FF. Have you found the Sears model # for this? Should be on a plate, possibly on the rear just below the fuel tank. It will be possibly a 917.?????? number. The GTV's were very similar, may use the same steering.
I just repainted my GTV and looked over the steering real close. Maybe I can help you out on what will fit.

I have not had any time to do any serious tire kicking on it yet. just unloaded it yesterday and headed back to work.
185 hrs in 15 days. Im gonna need some reboot time before I get into this tractor very far

I have managed to get part numbers but have not found any good pics, just an old crappy hard to read parts list.
shaft assm. 677H540 (not available)
pinion 3945J (AYP $52 )
Not sure if pinion is actually in stock. I have ordered ford part from New Holland that appeared to be in stock, only to get a call later stating that they were cancelling the order... parts are not available.

Wish I could afford the rear out of that machine, Bob. I'd make my GTV/16 into an FF.

I have fixed the steering on this and got it running good. Still need to work on the hydraulic lift, the lever moves but not easy. Lift wont move. It takes a while before the hydro starts working after it sits over night, 1 minute or more. It sounds like it is getting air in the system from some where. Is this a sign of a weak pump or just an old dry O ring?
It seems to move good once it gets right. I have not tried to do any hard pulls yet, just a trailer toter right now. I plan on building a snow blade for it, but I am not sure how good the hydro will work when it gets cold.

Not yet. still kicking the tires, It dont pee on the floor, so it isnt an external leak. I am thinking it's due for an overhaul. The two for one deal dont look so good now. The gilson is gonna need some work too.The price was right , so what the hell. Gonna need some thing to do this winter.
Doing a quicky/ cheapy paint job on my sons truck this weekend. $500 farm truck with a $50 paint job, Not going for " show truck" just better than it was. Flat black and barn yard patches on the rust holes

The GT's are on the back burner for a few weeks.

If that rig has the Eaton 11 hydro I would make sure its full and has the correct filter . Use a quality hydraulic oil / tractor transmission fluid like hy-trans. If this doesn't cure it, it may have an issue with the charge pump or hydraulic valve for the lift. If it has issues with valves internally like the cushion or relief valves this is an involved repair.

The hydro is working alot better now. I think it just had arthritis from sitting so long. I got the lift working, just need to build the 3 point set up. I just missed a set on fleebay by a month. Snagged the pic. They dont look too complicated, no fish eyes in them. That might make it hard to hook up equipment and feel sloppy.
