About 10 years ago, My Dad was having trouble with a Craftsman GT
with a Briggs 18 v twin. You know, one of the ones that lost it's ring seats twice before we lost our humor and sold it. Anyway, I tracked it down to a plug in the line or the outlet at the tank. I decided to spin the cap off and blow into the tank, pressurizing it just a little to see if it would go on thru (Plastic Tank). I wiped off the hole & pulled off the line at the carb, then I blew. Big tank so I had taken a big breath. I took my brain a second to process, but as soon as I recognized that gurgle noise, I new I was I trouble. The gas was above the end of the fill tube.
I closed my eyes & mouth & tried to jerk my face away, but the force of the gas shot up that tube & up my nose, into my sinus cavity & clear into the space behind my eardrums. It burned like acid. Trip to the ER, 2 days of discomfort, and the rest of my life with tinnitus. I joke that the only upside to the ringing is it drowns out the voices.
