well i scored a 12hp kohler k301 engine for my 140. i know its not the origanal horse power but i think it should work well. it came with an electric pto, carb, starter and everything plus it runs! the deal is kinda complicated but in the end i will only have roughly $150 into the engine.

i got it all bolted up and it looks good but i think im missing a part or two for the drive shaft in between the flywheel and the drive shaft coupling. this is what it looks like.

i have looked on ebay and tried finding diagrams but i have been confused on what part(s) im missing and was hoping someone on here can point me in the right direction without anymore frustration lol.

thanks in advanced to any help or comments

What year is your 140, JD used a couple different set ups on the drive shaft to flywheel mount.

The parts lists are on JDParts.com. Heres a link to the parts diagrams for the 140. It's near the top of the list. There are 2 different sets of diagrams for the 140 depending on ser. No. and also if it's a H1 or H3. Have a look and you can see what you need. Check with our sponsors for used parts or your JD dealer for new parts. It looks like you may be missing the coupler and the isolation disk and hardware.

Another thing to be aware of is that the flywheel on your replacement engine may not be the same as the original style and you need to make sure it's compatible with the adapter. The engine spec no. should give you info on that.

thanks brian, it looks like im missing the hub that bolts to the flywheel and the plate that bolts between the hub and the coupler. looking around the plate is cheap and easy to get, but the only used hub i found is on ebay and the dude wants 70 bucks... ouch and a new one is $150 i think ill keep my eye out for a cheaper one haha

i found out i have the right flywheel too wich is a plus.

thanks for the help. more comments or suggestions are appreciated

The hood hinges are different. The exhaust hole is located at different heights. Plus, on your 110, the hood mounts to actual hinges, where as your 140 should mount to just pin type hinges.
