There is a fellow trying to sell some items from his parents estate in my town. He has 4 older Simplicity tractors, only one runs, a sickle bar mower, a dozer blade, and a tiller. There is also a very old Massy Ferguson tractor(late 50's - early 60's?). The only item I might be interested in would be the sickle mower. It's in great shape. I offered him $100.00 for it. He said if he still had it later in the week, we'd talk. Is it worth more?

Thanks in advance, Marty

If the mower is in decent shape, I'd say it's closer to two-three bills. That's what decent ones seem to bring around here anyways... Also one reason I don't have one yet... :)

It appears to have been red in color at one point in its life. It looks very similar to an early Wheel Horse. I don't think his prices are all that unreasonable either. I wish more of you Simplicity collectors were from Mi. He claims that all of the tractors are rare in some way.
I'll probably stop by Saturday and make him another offer on the mower. Would $150 be in the right neighborhood?

Does the mower have all of the parts to mount it? If it's complete, it is easily worth 200.00 to 300.00 as Alan stated.

Grab some pics/post them if you can, and I can give you my usually wrong opinion.

BTW, welcome to GTT Marty.

I would offer him $300 for all the GT stuff, package deals are always the way to go!

Junk Junkie, It looks the most like the first photo, but even that one looks way newer than what this one looks like. I'm horrible at posting pics, but if I get a chance later on, I'll snap a few pics.

God fearing American, all the parts are there and he says he was just out cutting with it last week. To me, with my untrained eyes, it looks like it's in near perfect condition.

Cobbler, he has one of the tractors by itself priced at $500.00. I'm quite sure it would insult him if I offered him $300.00 for the whole works. I don't think I'd stand a chance of getting the mower if I did that.

100_1097.JPG The one he said is a Massy "Work Horse".

100_1098.JPG Says 7016 on top of hood.

100_1099.JPG Implements for Simplicities.

100_1101.JPG The name of the small Simplicity rototiller.

100_1100.JPG The only tractor that runs.

100_1102.JPG A better view of the rototiller.

Hopefully you folks can make sence of the pics I've posted. This is only my third time ever posting pictures, so bear with me! Looks like my sickle mower is gone, along with a tiller attachment for a tractor.

That is an Executive Series Massey tractor. If I was closer to MI, I'd be begging for the address.

Here is a thread on them: http://gardentractor...ies/#entry88509

IDK if the dozer blade is OEM, but it sure looks as if it could be. One concern on this tractor, if it was used for pushing, the rear axle could be suspect... They are quite rare to find a replacement for. If you go for it, make sure you check that out as best you can.

Also, the exhaust at least has been changed, if not the engine as evidenced by the hood "Modifications"

Thanks fo rthe pics!

The guy is asking $700.00 for the little Massey. If you'd like his phone #, send me a pm and I'll give it to you. His prices appear to be going up a little...????
