you can also save documents in ms format with Libre Office

my wife uses only windoze for work and i have done stuff for her and she has no problems with any of them

I have used Open Office and Libre Office and they work great but I found Kingsoft Office which really does save documents in MS Office format.

You can go into preferences / options and set the default saved format to MS office and you can refine it to what version as well.  That way you don't have to think about it when saving.

Jesse at Distrowatch just did a review on Kingsoft.  Not a bad review either.

Working with a couple of malware infected Windows 7 machines.  The first one was filled with one of those "white" screen applications that hijacks then demands money to remove the screen.  I downloaded the Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 ISO, burnt it to a CD, and booted to the CD.  Follow the prompts and read the details and all will go well.  Trying it on another machine that is filled with some different malware.
