My daughter kinda floored us a few months ago by telling us she wanted to play softball this year. She was 11 at signup time, and had to play with the younger girls, but she got some really good fundamentals that way and the younger girls (most of them were ages 6-7) thought it was pretty cool having her around.

FFwd to the end of the season, her coach encouraged her to try out for All Stars. All Stars is the community's better players (not little league), pitted against the same from surrounding communities. She was floating on air when she got the phone call she made the team. She and one of her friends were alternating as they were the two youngest players and this was KK's first year playing.

They were finally eliminated tonight after three hard games. They lost the first by one, won the second by 10 and lost tonight by two. They all did a fantastic job, and were excited just to have done what they did. Most of the teams are from much larger areas, and can draw on a much larger pool for players. All the parents are proud of their girls, the sportsmanship and manners were top notch. Congrats to the Lady Cardinals!

Anyways, I wanted to brag about my kid... here she is batting and playing Left Field.

Alan you have every right to be proud of your daughter and brag about her. That is quite an accomplishment and to think this was her first year. Don't you just love it when they come up out of the blue and want to do something and then excel beyond what you think they will do. Congratulations to KK.

Tell KK that I said "Woo Hoo!" Congrats to her, you, and the Lady Cardinals on a successful season and a decent run at the All- Stars!
