Glad you found the axle you needed, what's your plans for those rear tires?

Geez, that's every bit as rare (or more so) than the executive.

Nice save!

That's quite the find Kris.
Good that you got the parts you need.
Have you got any plans for those footrests?

Boy Kris, that's a good find and a good brother to bring it to you. Congrats.

I'd love to have the triangle piece of body that covers the battery.
Too bad the steering wheel is broken.

That's a cool looking tractor. Might be more rare!

Thanx guys! I DO have a great brother - even tho he was already headed this way to buy a couple of Nash Metropolitians I found him while cruising in the company truck.

Brian, [TD&H] the tires are mostly junk - the right one is split everywhere, I think someone aired it up too much. The left one looks OK but it could be rotten as well, I put some air in it tonight and it is holding. You never know if someone tried to put 35 LBS in one because they didn't know any better. I believe it is a Wards Riverside. If you need the left one to make a matched pair PM me.

Will, I'm going to continue to look for an axle so some day I might fix this one up too.

After Googling Porter Cable[s] I'm not sure this is one. All the PC's have a different hood. It has a serial plate behind the dash but nothing is legible except the stamped #'s  :confuse:

My understanding is that Porter Cable sold their garden tractor division to Moto-mower around 1958-1960. Moto-mower continued selling them under their name with the rounded hood. My best guess is that around 1961/62 Moto-mower started changing the hood designs. The design change occurred around the same time as the MF Execs - a coincidence?

On the serial number plate can you read anything? What #s are visible?

There were different designs for the verticle front part of the hood. The horizontal lines on yours are different but could be an earlier or later model than the hits you found using google.

The serial plate reads:

Type - - serial no.
89 1600 M/W-11624

I just noticed under its brush-on paint job it used to be red - guess its a Moto Mower

Got me stumped.

That doesn't look like any of the moto-mower model numbers I've seen. Mostly 60xx and 7000. I think the type would be 100.

The rounded nose on the front of the hood is late 50s/early 60s. Also expected the colour to be white/beige or light blue. The front axle should be light blue.

Is the red under the white a re-paint? I haven't seen a red moto-mower with that hood design - only white.

An example serial number tag - which I speculate is 1963.
Model # 6001
Type # 100
Serial # B10792

So, do you have to wear a suit to drive the executive?

I picked up the same tractor at an auction last weekend, this one is complete and with a little work I have it "on the road" Model 89-1600, ser.# MW12092. After a little web searching, the MW serial # and seeing it has Montgomery Wards tires, sounds like it was sold by Wards, but I would like to find who made them. Does not look like it was setup to mow, one guy with a like rig said his came with a plow, but no mower.
