Cold front blowing through this morning and we have a bit of rain for the first time in over a month. I am sure it will amount to less than 1/2" but some is better than none. Temp is 70 degrees and it feels cold compared to 102 yesterday!

Guess I need to take the Ford and mower deck out to find some silage to cut. Bone dry here!

Man I feel bad for you guys. This part of PA and Ohio has got a lot of rain in the past few weeks. There may had been some damage already done by the drought, but at least it seems to be over for a while here... I hope.

Stumbled on this sight while spraying thistles in the pasture this morning. Thistles are the only thing still green so they are easy to see! This is the same pond that is in post 230 of this thread. There has been no water to drink in there for a long time!. Not sure what she was thinking. The other pond is still usable - never figured it would last this long.

I called the landlord - he owns the cows too- and gave him the bad news. I won't tell you what he said but its a good thing he is a Baptist cause a Pentacostal wouldn't be allowed into Heaven for what he said. :laughingteeth: I saw him drive his [green] tractor by here early this morning - come to find out it was headed to the shop - so he called his friend with a [red] tractor to assist. After they broke a 2000lb rated strap they drug out another chain for the pull. Landlord and I check on the cows every day so she hadn't been in there long. I'm happy to report the cow is doing fine.

Geez Kris, I figured you got some rain there by now. Sorry to hear otherwise (VERY sorry). Glad the poor old cow survived, but I'd bet her neck is a foot longer for a while!

Well, I did get about 1/4 inch yesterday. Most of that system developed just east of me and moved east from there. The thunder rumbled for hours but less than 30 minutes of rain here. :mecry:

Och'ta'liber, I hate pulling cows like that ! We drag some plywood out around them and put a couple loops under them and gently put pressure on until we can get them up on the wood. Oh, ya it is a great way to get kicked and totally covered in slop and the "vocabulary" if it could be put in a can could be used for paint stripper ! I feel for your neighbor, been there...don't like it. Hope the cow recovers completely, some do and some are just never the same.

:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: So good to hear. We are in good shape in my area whether I get rain or not. While it has been kind of dry lately, we are not hurting now.
