Hi Guys,

New to the forum but this looks like a great place to get help! I have a 1980's John Deere 160 riding mower. My father took the deck off without taking a pic or video of where all the parts went. We got the blades sharpened and put the deck back on. However, the top main pulley is way too loose. Not the pulley intertwined on the deck itself, but directly above it. It's too loose and I don't know how to make it tighter. Also, there is a black spring near the back middle of the deck that is attached but I don't know where this attaches to the mower. Anyone have a manual for the 1980's 160 model? Thank you.

These models are more common than I expexted. We inherited a JD 160 from my wife's grandfather (original owner), and we're looking for any manuals to help service it and keep it running. Many thanks. Good to see so many are still running.

Does anyone have the service manual for the Kawasaki motor, like to know what the ohm reading should be more the ingniter, bm11. My JD160 won't start. Already replaced the coil and it ran for 10 min and died.

Thanks

I've recently retired and decided to do (or learn to do) my own maintenance on the JD 160.  I would be grateful if someone could digitally share the general "operator" manual.  I'm embarrassed to say that I can't locate the doggone oil filter on this Kawasaki engine. Where did they hide this thing?
