Well a couple of a years ago the connecting rod in the teccy on our Ariens snowblower decided to vacate the premises, so the big blower has been sitting in the weeds for a while now. I decided today to see what it would take to graft it onto the front end of my MF10. Doesnt look like it will be real hard to do, ill let the pics do the talking i guess lol. Any ideas let me know.

Im thinking of mounting a right angle drive gearbox with an electric clutch on the front of the massey, that way its there for anything else I may want to drive off the front.

Looks like it could work. One question, is the blower wide enough to cover the wheels on the 10? Those Ariens blowers are really well built. I have a newish one that has the same cast iron auger drive gearbox as is used on the tractor mount blowers. You might be able to recycle an angle drive from a mower deck.

Looks like you can make it work.Just a bit of advice before you start and get into it to deep just make sure that you have the proper rotation of your input shaft so that the blower will be turning in the proper direction.Another thing is the proper input RPM .Larry

Good points Larry, RPM did cross my mind, but proper rotation had not. Ill have to look into that.

The blower just barely covers the width of the tractor. It looked alot wider when it was a walk behind lol

Sounds like a good build to watch. Good luck with it! I have a blower I want to make into a 3pt attachment, haven't gotten to it yet.

Here is the gearbox I am thinking about using. Its a little big for my application, but its better than spending 150+ on a new box. I may end up having to bite the bullet and buy a new one though....

John, you're missing a few pcs, but the foot peddle tightener would probably work for this. Just got to track one down.

Just noticed that John's tractor does not have a tightener.

Well I made an attempt today at drawing up what I have in mind on paint. One of these days ill figure out how to draw straight lines on there lol. This looks like it should work really well to me, want to see what you guys think. Ill have to make up the same type of mounts on my push blade that way its just a matter of pinning on and go.

Totally understand what you have in mind. I know you are using MS Paint but just want to suggest keeping the hinge point on your mount, directly under the U-joint for your drive shaft. Keeps things from binding when all the way up. :orangecool:

Otherwise, if the gear box is a 1:1 ratio... you should be good to go. GREAT repurpose !

Well, I designed the driveshaft with a slip joint so it "shouldnt" be able to bind, but I will definitly keep your suggestion in mind. Im thinking I will get one of those cheap remote control HF winches for the lifting power. That blower is way heavier than anything I want to lift lol

I agree on the U joint in the drive shaft. Before the drawing I was wondering what you were doing with the gearbox, now I see! Other then the U joint thing it looks like you have a good plan of attack!

This is the tightener on the tiller, but if you picture your right angle drive in this... Well, you get the idea.
