I have a friend with a 265 JD. He picked this up used. I am looking for manuals for this. The one's I saved from our manuals section do not have the 265 listed.
Model #: M00265A597403
Mower deck is Model #: M0048DB140004
I would like to get him a copy of the manuals plus figure out how to get it to free wheel. We found the lever for that, but not sure which way it needs to go. Thanks!

KennyP if you have any manuals for a JD 240/245 they are the same tractor except for the engine.

Got the engine figured out. But I don't have manuals for this. So if someone has anything, I'd appreciate a copy!

I picked a number of JD Garden Tractor and attachment manuals at an on-line auction last year, and I have the "240, 20, 265, and 285 Lawn and Garden Tractors" Operator's Manual, OM-M71197 Issue H&. It says it is the Dealer Service Shop Copy. I've attached a copy of page 29 which talks about Transporting the tractor and the Tow Disconnect lever. It says to push down on it. Hope this helps.Attached File  265 Freewheeling.PDF   255.22KB   433 downloads

I also have the Operator's Manual for the 42" Snowthrower and the Installation Manual for the Front Lift Kit For 240, 260, 265, and 285 Tractors.

I'm a little busy this week, helping move my father-in-law to assisted living, but should have time after that to scan the tractor manual (and the others if you want them) in into a PDF, and send it to you.

Harlan, I'll take whatever you have. I tried moving the tow disconnect every way I could think and it did nothing. Next time I'm there, I will try harder to push down. This may not have been used for some time now!

While being noisy and looking around I found some good stuff here.  Learn something new everyday.

Thanks Kenny.
