The other thing I was thinking of about that disk is is it flat ? I think some carbs has those that where concaved and when you put then in place you would peen the center so it would expand a little to hold it in place , Al

Good thinking, but sadly no. It was flat. The hole the disk fits into is odd. It has an internal ridge around 1/2 of the hole. It looked kind of like it was meant for a ring clip, had the ridge been all the way around. That gave me an idea. I found a ring clip that was the right size and installed it over the disk. To keep it from popping out on the side with no ridge, I lightly tapped the edge of the hole with a small ball pean hammer just enough to deform the casting over the edge of the clip. Looks like it should hold nicely.
