Took the tractor for a little test drive and the seller was honest when he said it smoked !!!! I've had 2 strokes that didn't smoke that bad !! The carb needed a little adjusting still not as good as it should be I think so I added Marvel Mystery Oil to the tank and crankcase too maybe get lucky and just a ring gummed up hey you never know ! Mounted the sickle bar and that seems to work well , , there is a bar missing/broke on the very front , not sure what it was there for goes side to side with the blade a guard maybe ? This model bar is supposed to be for under 5hp tractors does anyone know what the difference is ? The reverser works even though it looks a little hoo hoo-eyed The speed changer works but it looks like it should ride up the pulley further when going for high-speed ,should that reach the top of the pulley ? I'm sure I'll be posting more questions as I play around with it , Al

if i remeber right the differance is the belt, one took a 1/2' wide one and the other a 5/8. Not sure what part your missing need to get a picture of where it goes on the unit to be sure.

Lauber, shouldn't both belts on the speed changer be 5/8" in Al's case?

Al, I think you will be fine if you can get rid of that smoke.

I adjusted the speed changer and it seems to be better now . Here's a picture of the bar on my other tractor it's abut 1/2" goes from the center of the bar straight up then bends 90' at the top. Bad rings I guess Casey , what would you guess ? Al

That is the sweeper bar, I took mine off, it had been run loose and the threads were worn out.

Al, the tall grass frame bolts above the sweeper bar. As for your Wisconsin, you may have bad rings. I would call Bob and order some rings for your Wisconsin, he probably has them.

The sweeper bar just pushes the grass to both sides.

I believe the low speed bolted to the speed changer on these. Lauber can tell you more.

I was talking with Casey about wheels weights does anyone have a picture of what they look like on a 15" wheel ? Was wondering if they used different ones on the 16" and when mounted on the 15" would sit on the lip area ( the place you would normally see wheel weights on a car ) or where they just a inch smaller , thanks Al

You can use the 15" ones on both wheels, but the 16" one only on 16" wheels.

A low speed pulley setup has a big sheave with a small one attached to the side of it. It both to specail bracket that go around the handel bars. A slow speed setup uses a variable pully like the suburban later used. I beleive the belt for the first one is 1/2" and the later ones where 5/8. Also the low speed outfit dont have a control handel up on the handel bars, the other style does. and yes the tractor in the first picture is using a vari-speed with 5/8 belts.

your missing sweeper bar would have come with the mower unit. The tall grass frame parts were another 917 number and optional.

Thanks Lauber1 , I bet 15" wheel weights are hard to find . If I understand you correctly my tractor has the vari-drive ( I was calling it a "speed changer " ) it wouldn't have come with a " Slow Speed pulley " ? Al
