Brian do you think it was the gas that was left in it or just from water that caused all the damage ? Al

I'm not sure Al but it had to have been water and/or condensation that caused the rust on the welsh plug. The needles were partly eaten away and covered with a grey flakey corrosion. If it was stored in an unheated space then condensation would have been a problem over the years. The gas tank, lines and carb were totally dry so any chemical or water that was in the gas and didn't evaporate would be there as well and could have contributed to the corrosion. The seller said it was not used for about 10yrs. It may have been longer than that as the engine shows little wear. The tank didn't even smell like gas. I hate working on carbs but I hope to get this one working again.

To bad we don't live closer! I love rebuilding carbs! I have been buying carter and walbro carbs as I find them.

I figured I might as well get the old ones that have high speed adjusters while I can.

If you need help on it, you could always send it to me and I'll rebuild it for you. ( no charge of course) I just figured I'd throw that out as an option.

Thanks for the generous offer Chris! I'll give it a go myself first. I don't like working on carbs but have had pretty good luck with them so far. If I run into any trouble with it I'll take you up on the offer.
