How did you do at the pull?
A nice turn-out - about 50 tractors.

It was great meeting another gttalk member. Hoped to have some time to visit, but was kinda busy and didn't get much of a break.

You were very busy with all those tractors to announce for...we had fun, didn't pull so well, but didn't break anything either. Time to get serious about some tires and weight. I have to get the 16 hp running better as well. i didn't think the smallest tractor would pull the best but it beat the Allis and the Viking. Would you recall how much weight was on the sled for the 12 hp.

I'm glad to hear you had fun.

I'm told that the sled weighs at least 2000 lbs. It's hard to know the exact weight. To make the sled harder to pull, the chain can be attached at one of 3 different heights. The top height is about 12". Also the weights can be added to the skid pan and the transfer box.

I found a picture with your MTD 960 - blue tractor in the top-left corner.

There are more pictures available on the web site and a facebook page I'm setting up.

thats heavy, no wonder the Allis spun out. need to weigh that one down for that kind of pull. we had 300 ft in Russell so they didn't start with as much weight so soon. Part of pulling I guess, be ready for any kind of track and conditions. Were learning. Thanks again.

I'm trying to continue making progress on the Viking. Thinking I would replace some of the bearings. Looked online, and gulped when I saw $30 for the right-angle drive bearings. Then I looked for the clutch bearings - over $60?

Anyone know if they cross-reference to a more cost-effective SFK, NTN or ???

Thanks.

Tried doing a bit more on the viking.

Earlier, while pulling the clutch assembly I broke a bolt that holds the steering gear.
Finally got the steering off and still cannot get the broken bolt out. I drilled through the bolt and was hoping that would loosen up the bolt. Still too tight to move. I put an easy-out on it - still no movement. Didn't want a broken easy-out in the mix.

Not sure what to do next. I don't have a tap-n-die set (yet?).
