Had a hard time taking a picture that reflects the difference.....I think the top shot is probably the best.

Yes, those HD-12s, are a monster. I think it's maybe 30-50% bigger than any other
12hp unit from it's time. And heavy too. I pushed one around a few times, and
then decided, "enough of that". So I got it running.

Congratulations on your score, Sacsr. I can tell by your grin in vids, that you're
enjoying it.

Actually, the early JD140 used the same exact pump/gear system, except the hydro control shaft is on the bottom instead of the top like the JB & HD. But the pumps can be swapped around to work either top or bottom. The 140's diff is the same too, except they have disc brakes, but just take them off & they'll fit the Bush Hog perfectly.
As to Wheel Horse units working, I can't say, as I've not seen many WH models to remember exactly. I do know the WH C120 & GT14 units won't interchange.

Good to know, I think mine is weak because the PO was running gear oil in it,might keep a eye open for a better hydro.
Please post a video when you get a plow on it, kind of wondering if yours plows faster than mine.Mine might be gutless because the old wisconsin is worn out or the hydo unit is holding it back, but it can't even plow half as fast as my brother's Cub 123.

The hydro & diff can plow fast! Must be a worn hydro or your worn engine, as I have two Bush Hog JBI's with the same hydro, but re-powered with large engines & they pull a 10" plow like it isn't there....full on speed.

Yea I was thinking of a repower, A friend of mine has a two cyl air cooled diesel that would fit in very nice without cutting up the tractor, he is still working on a full rebuild on it though. Would really like to get it together befor the next SC plow day.

If you get that diesel engine we would all like to see pics of the re power. That would be a real monster with diesel power!!

Another HD-12.....cool deal!
I know we have the registry and maybe that is the best way.....but since the bush hog corporation does not have any records of production numbers etc......we really need to capture all the bush hogs serial numbers and models that we can and try to put some production/sales dates with them if it is available....

With the limited numbers out there.....we are going to need each others help to keep them running!! Good to have another bush hog owner in the mix 48willys!

i noticed in a early post you said your hydro was loud, i also have a HD 12 and its hydro has a loud wine also. I put new fluid and filter in it but it didn't change. Just FYI. Cool bush hog. i didn't relize they were that much bigger. i had never seen them side by side. Cool stuff.
