the bore sure does look ok in that pic, but with the marks on that rod, better check the bottom of the skirt for out of round / hairline cracks near the impact points.

Interesting thread guys. Thanks for the input RoosterLew.

No problem. I race these engines, have probably done as much if not more to them than about anybody has.
If you really want to make some power out of them, lol , let me know.....

Here is one of my earlier engines..building alot more power now.

Verticle engine, one rod is above the other...that would be the top rod.

RoosterLew,
I figured out the governer and also know now what you mean by top and bottom rod. Took the flywheel off today and plan on taking off the other rod and taking out the crankshaft so I can clean the whole engine. Got a parts washer so I can put that to use too.

You ready for me to tel you how to boost the power yet? rofl!
Also, I wanted to make the offer again, if you need any parts let me know, I have a few dozen of those engines.
When you put the new rods into it there are some oiling mods you should really consider that keep that problem from happening.

I wouldn't mind the tips on the oiling issue, not sure on the power upgrade yet, first I want to beef up the frame and front axle for the future FEL.
