Hello everyone out there in GTt land! I am the proud owner of a '74 MF12 that just happens to be about 13 years older than I am! Here are a couple photos for people to have a look at. It's complete and that's about all that matters to me! Sadly I have to drain the gas tank, I think I might have gotten a bit of water into it, it was sputtering and missing some during this evenings mow. I also have to buy a new battery tomorrow, mine gave up the ghost, and wow does it ever take some juice to turn these old girls over!!

Hi.
Welcome to GTT. Nice clean lookin machine you've got there. You might want to think about
rebuilding that starter, or just getting a new one. They crank over so much better, with a new starter.
Best deal I've found.

Thanks for the link to the starter. I just might have to order one of them and give it a try. My rig is in good condition when you look at some of them out there! It even has the steering wheel cap, which I've heard can be hard to find at times on these. It's in nice shape, it's been in the family since new and been maintained fairly well. I also have the 620 thrower for the machine too. It recently dawned on me to check the internet for tractor forums and here I am!! Now I'm busy figuring out which belts to buy just in case and other goodies that I might need to keep this thing running for another 20 years. Anyone know where to find an extra set of rear rims? I want a spare set to mount Ags.

Check the "pinned" post on belts.
There is no substitute for the one drive belt, for that machine.
You can get it from a MF dealer only.

So I just take the part number (the MF part number) listed on the belt cross reference guide into my local Massey dealership and they should be able to get any belt in? I haven't had to change any on it since I acquired the tractor from my grandfather after he passed away a few years ago, but with that in mind I'm sure my time is coming :p

I just took a look at that cross reference chart, that Mac made up.
I didn't realize you could get that one belt from them. A-515382M1.

I've been getting all my other belts from them.

Finch, :welcometogttalk:

Good to see another Massey guy on here. Superb survivor, looks like Grandpa waxed it once a week to keep it that shiney.
The rims should be pretty easy to find, even OEM ones. All in all, most of the 5 bolt rims will work, may have a different offset. Measure before buying..

Welcome to the forum! Nice tractor! Even nicer that it is a 'family' tractor. Sounds like the folks are getting you some good help. Have a great time with it!

Glad to have you here Finch. There are lots of Massey fans here who can give you any help you need to keep your tractor running great. Those tractors make a great restoration project as well.
