Hello from maine. I have two SS16 Twins and I would like to hear from some of you about timing these Onan twins. I went by the book and didn't have a lot of luck. Someone else posted a different way but I forgot who or where.
Both of these tractors flood under heavy load and the engines finally just quit. After they sit for a few they fire right up and run fine. I am thinking this has more to do with the main jet setting than timing but I would still like some feedback(tips) on timing. Thank you all in advance. Mike

iron Mike, I'm sure someone will be along to help, but do you have some model #'s for these engines? That may have a lot of influence on the answers you receive! Thanks!

The SS16 uses an Onan BF engine.
Timing is 21 degrees BTDC (cold static initial, best to recheck with strobe light)
point gap approximately .020"
spark plug gap .025"
valve clearances EX: .013" IN: .008"
