I have two B&S engines that I'm trying to make one good engine. I'd like to swap the carb/gas tank assembly from this engine:
Model #: 92502
Type #:3101 01
Code #: 82063009

To this engine:
Model #: 92902
Type #: 1017 05
Code #: 79013122

Visually it looks like it could be done. The only difference according to the numbers is the 92502 has a Vacu-Jet carb and the 92902 has a Pulsa-Jet carb. Does anyone know, can this swap be done?

I don't see any reason it couldn't be done. You may have to change the governor linkage too so it matches.

Thanks Doug for the reply and also the heads up on the governor linkage. I'll be sure to check the linkage out when I get back to that job, (wife just revised the HDL), and this job got pushed down on the list!

Wish I could help, but not up on the finer points of Briggs-dom.
When the HDL gets short enough, let us know how it worked out.

If you run into parts issues, I noted an engine on Ebay thats listed for parts, Briggs 92902, 1017-05.. I recently picked up the recoil starter cover from this engine. Heres the link:
