Had to go back to the 'House from H***' today. They have a buyer finally. Inspector found a couple thing to be fixed (all "under" the house) He wanted 3" of dirt removed from under the plenums for the heat/air. They were sitting on the dirt. These things take up about a 5'X5' area. Plus there is only room to lay on your belly between ducts to dig this out. Then you dig for a while, then drag the dirt back out of the way. Dig more, etc. Took Paul and I 6 hrs. to get-er-done. We have a couple small leaks to fix tomorrow (major surgery to do). Thankfully, someone had dug under the ducts so you can get there. Needless to say, I am very tired and sore. Hope I can move my shoulders in the morning. But, I will be dam*ed happy to see this place sold!

I feel your pain Kenny! Working under my home is so tight that there are places I can't even get to! I pulled a muscle in my neck pitching hay today, plus my back was already hurting. Ibuprofin Kenny...Ibuprofin!
Hope they sell it for ya too!

Bad part is, I do better with Bayer aspirin than Ibuprofin. I have some Bayer Back and Body, already took two. Couple more at bed time, plus a nice warm shower to ease things. Thanks, though!

That sounds like a miserable job Kenny. I use this stuff called Voltaren. It's a cream that you rub directly on the painful area. i find this stuff really works for me. I have disc compression in my lower back and tendonitis in my elbows and it really works well for me. You can get it without a prescription up here. It's a non steroidal anti-inflammatory like aspirin but goes directly to the problem area.

Digging is never fun! No matter what position you do it in! It's even worse in tight quarters. Hope that the Bayer and the hot shower do the trick for you! Good luck with the sale too!

Kenny, I hope the back gets better. I use stuff called Martini, if that doesn't do it, I repeat as necessary. lol

Hope the house goes soon. Good luck.

Al, it was all on my belly. Weren't enough room to be bent over.
I had forgotten my daughter had given me some stuff called Biofreeze. It's a pain relieving roll-on. Tried some of that a few minutes ago. See if it helps get me moving for the day!

Hi Kenny, I've used that BioFreeze stuff for several years now, it works pretty well for me.
If I never go in another crawl space to dig clearance it will be too soon for me. The last one I did was about an 18 feet shimmy in and like you I was on my belly with a garden trowel clearing space for a toilet stack. The other guys passed drink to me thru the bathtub drain space. skipped lunch because just too hard to get in and out. The second day I dozed off at lunch and felt and heard a RAT at the side of my head at the same time... the guys tell me I screamed like a "little girl"...what I remember is bashing my head against a joist so hard it drew blood and using ALL the words momma gets the bar of soap out for !! ripped my shirt, scraped my back and face, cut a hand and continued cursing all the way out of that "He-double toothpicks" hole...
It was two full weeks before I went back in there...we needed to finish to get paid and I was the smallest guy in the crew (6ft ~215lbs). My skin crawls even now remembering that job...
Glad yours is over with.

Not quite! Got to check out the 'leaks' the inspector says he found. Paul looked at one yesterday and could just barely see moisture. LOL Anyway, one more day crawling around under there. Hopefully, no more digging! Biofreeze is helping, but it'll be few days before I feel normal!
