Hi everyone I just picked up a used Massey Ferguson Tractor with the mower deck for $200.00 locally. I immediately loved it!!! First time even seeing one. The weird part is that in researching the tractor frame and engine it appears that I happened on a MF 12 with a 16hp tecumsah engine in it. Can anyone tell me what the really story is on it? The serial on the engine reads OH160 170106A followed by SER 9312. The tracor frame tag reads MF 12G followed by 1446810894. Not sure if it is a 79 or 89 either. Any help would be appreciated. Now the search is on for the other implements that go with it! :-)

There is a serial # sheet in the manuals section for the Masseys. Sounds like you got a repower which if they didn't butcher anything to put it in there the extra 4hp would be great.

Yours is a 1975 model, and definitely a repower. That 16hp oughta do great! And welcome to GTT!

Thanks for the info. I was out tinkering with it today and cut the lawn after a few adjustments. That is a blast to drive. 16 hp was definitely loud...pure power! Had to get one bracket on the underside of the mower rewelded as well as the front latch that holds the front plate on. Someone welded both previously and did a terrible job. Sharpened the blades and let er rip. Going to need that deck belt replaced too since it is cracking. Had a terrible time tracking one down and never did get it. I think it is the standard mf 12 deck. Guess I need to do a little more research. Measured it and came up with 99 in circumference by 1\2 in wide. Can't attach pic from my phone which I am on right now but will try on my computer.

Hello everyone. I tried this the other night but I kept getting a pop-up telling me I didn't have permission to do this. Sooo, who can give me permission? I have several of the lawn tractors I call classic rust. I started with a FREE JD 140 then added a FREE JD 185. I have restored both of them (not a frame up). I then added several no-names for parts, then a JD 317 and a JD R70 and a JD 10 lawn cart. I have a new JD 2305 with a loader and a number of attachments. I also have some attachments for the 140. A couple weeks ago I got a Masrercraft and a Coast to Coast. Both are 11 hp. The Coast to Coast has a 3 speed tranny and a 2 speed rear. I also bought a Craftsman 15.5 hp with a blown Kohler engine that I am doing a repower on. I'm installing a Briggs and Stratton 18 hp. I'm going to have to quit collecting soon as I'm running out of room. I also have a JD 317 in Minnesota that I have to go get. Time.

Don, can you tell me where it gave you the error at? Was it when you clicked the add entry link? Or was it when you went to submit the entry?

Hey guys can anyone tell me whether this picture is a blade for a MF 12? I ran across it but do not know. It is made by massey but not sure if it is the dozer blade for MF 12 or some other tractor.3n13oa3pc5Y15V25Q5a6f9ce357a621fd1a9b.jpg

Looks like a blade for an MF12 to me. At least the blad, pivot and angle adjuster do. I can't remember how the back hooks up to the rear hitch. For some reason I an thinking the plates on the back of that one should be up and down and not side to side but I can't remember. I think I have pics posted of my blade somewhere on here. I will see if I can find it.

The mf630 blade is for the mf10's & 12's, the 630 is 42" wide. If that one is 48" it may be for a mf14&16 or the 1450-1850, I can't tell which one it is from the pic but it does look like a massey to me. Here are some pics of a mf630 blade for the 10's&12's.

On the mf630 blade(mf10&12) the end of the push tube is flattened at the end with a pipe welded across it for the mounting bracket to pivot on. According to my parts book dated 5/76 there were three versions of the mf630 dozer blade. Early production - with two piece push tube, late production - with one piece push tube without skid shoe and late production with one piece push tube w/skid shoe. All three show the flattened push tube with pipe welded on it so I don't think the one in marpat's pic is for the 10&12. I have two 630 blades - both early two piece push tube style. I think with a little modification the one in the pic could work well on a 10&12. I wish mine were 48" wide.

Is it OK to just register the tractors? Dad has a few but they're just sitting right now. My son is taking 2 & making one. Also, anyone know where the s/n is on a Custom 6 Sears?
