Howards thats the plan I've also been pondering custom pullys so that i can run a 5/8 belt...I've often pondered the chain drive if you go that rout let me know how it works

Run your hydro. you just need to learn what is the max rpm vs pump and set the max throttle to that point. The most important thing is not to run to many or you will blow the reflief valve off lossing psi to the transmission. Some hydro tractors do well adding power slow and some like it added fast(psi build up). than back down. It will take time to study what works for your tractor I pull a jacobson gt12 and a john derre 140 both hydro tractors each holding there own secrets for success.
