Found this little gem about a week ago...I've been emailing and talking to him over the phone about it. I finally was able to go and check it out this morning. It was about a 1 1/2 hour drive one way. It was worth the drive. I bought it and brought it home. It was a little hard to start but we did get it started, It ran good, no smoke, and BOTH cylinders work fine, has good compression both sides. I got a 48 inch deck in good shape and a tiller with the tractor. The tiller needs some new hoses. The tractor needs a new starter solenoid.
The guy said he spent a bunch of money last year to put a new coil, electronic ignition and fuel pump on it. I could see that it had the new fuel pump and hoses and the new Onan coil. Tell ya what, it idles really good and runs really good too. no misses or nuthin. He said it had been in the family since his grandpa had bought it new. I think he said 1982. His grandpa had traded in his old (2-tone creme and orange) Case 446 for this one. He ordered it with the dump valve and the 3-point hitch.

Looks like a great haul! I have a 220 that's a little newer than yours and would love to have a tiller for it. The 3 point hitch is a real plus in the deal too! Is the mower deck in good shape, it appears to be? The one that came with mine is thin in a few spots that can only be seen from the underside, but fairly solid for the most part.

I haven't tried mowing with it yet, but turning the center pully by hand is very easy. the belt is on the mower deck, so all three blades turn when you move the center pully. I don't see any holes or cracks in the deck either.

I looked up the serial number. It is an early 1980.
You don't find them very often, but I was trying to find that valve for sale on the side of the tractor that diverts the hyd. oil to allow the tractor to 'creep' .... I got lucky and found a complete and in great shape tractor. The 3-point hitch was a bonus.

Those are 'tractor monsters' my buddy mastifflawyer has one and that thing is a workhorse...We plowed a neighbors field last year and I don't even think the motor got warm...JK but it definitely handled the job easily...

I have a spot wide enough in my garden for two passes with the tiller that i did not plant. I noticed a few weeds growing in there yesterday, so of course i went out and worked the tiller!

Good news on the buy! How did the tiller preform?
