Question for you all. I just found one of these engines, it was running when removed 2 years ago (so they say anyway) but the person only wants $150.00 for it.

Do you think it would be worth picking up?

I think that price might be to good to be true. If that is a good engine, I don't think you could go wrong with that. Im no expert though.

Chris, You can always get your money back plus some by parting it out if it doesn't run. Good luck and go get it MAN!!

The guy was going to have it rebuilt, he was quoted $2500 for the job. So he bought a brand new one instead for $3000. So he said this has just been sitting in his barn since.

So what were the symptoms causing him to want to rebuild it?

You should have no problem getting it to fit in the Explorer. I couldn't find the specs but probably around 200 to 250 pounds.

It's sure worth looking into. I'd be dying to know what's wrong with it though.

This place wants quite a bit of $ for a rebuilt engine. Sounds like the one you found could be worth $150.00.

Oh, no problems with the Explorer! You wouldn't even have to fold the back seat down I wouldn't think. They are quite heavy though.
