Just picked up an old Sears Suburban......1968 recoil start (I Think) converted to electric with starter generator......

I'll get pictures up as soon as I figure out how.......

First off, Welcome to GTtalk, glad you joined us.
To add a photo,
At the bottom right corner of the reply box you will see a box that says "More Reply Options" Click it an when that box opens scrol down and you will see the "Attach a Fill" button click on "Browse", find the picture and open it, then attach it. Then you can "Add to Post" and your done.. Hope this helps.

Apart from the color scheme, it's in pretty good shape. Looks like an SS10 or SS12 from the pic. Is there a discernible model number on the engine? Another way you can tell what engine size is a small stamping on the casting near the front left mount bolt for the engine. It'll either have the HP stamped there.

As for the conversion from pull start, the original (Starter Generator units) used a pulley with the notch cut in for a rope start.

Thanks for the picture. They're real work horses, keep us posted on your plans.

I was going by the grille with no lights as a 68 pull start......

The pulley does have a notch for a rope....

I'll see about getting numbers tomorrow
