Hi,is this a gilson garden tractor?Im in the process of trying to buy it.It has what looks to be a 3 point hitch setup with PTO.It has a tiller that is drive shaft driven.Whats got me confused is that all the gilson i have seen the carb and muffler is on the left side "sitting on it".and the pulleys in the front. This one is all reversed pulleys in the back and carb on the right.I guess someone could have turned the motor around?

It looks to me like it's an MTD 990 from what you can see of the front grill, tall tires and the fenders. MTD manufactured them for a lot of different house brands so it may have another name on the hood.

From the color of the hood and fenders, I would say it's a MTD 990 decaled for J.C. Pennys. These are very strong and able Gt's. I own one decaled as a White's Hardware of TX.. I have posted some pictures and info about it here.

In the first photo you posted under the seat you can see the 2 speed rear axle control lever. It should also have 15" rear tires.
