Went up today to look at the world. I like flying off of skis and it was a beautiful day so I did a little flying. This is what our part of the world looks like this time of year.

Unfortunately not long into the flight I started having fuel problems so I had to cut the day short. hopefully next time there will be better photos.

That is a neat shot from up in the sky. Do you have a camera mounted outside and trigger it somehow?

No, I'm actually flying out in the open and the camera strap is around my neck. Kind of a trick getting the snowmobile mittens off and taking the picture. Made an extra long strap so I can take photos from any direction. The windshield and fairing block 90% of the wind and cold. Actually more comfortable than riding a snowmobile. The plane is a Pioneer FlighStar.

Chris, a shot of your plane (and you) would be a nice addition to the thread.

The next time I have it out I will see what I can do. I now have a new fuel pump on order and when my Son gets it I will get the plane out and take a photo. Can I have my hat, ski mask and goggles on so as not to scare anyone? :smilewink:

I flew over to the Lake Poinsett ice fishing tournament and was going to take some photos. Turned my camera on and the battery needed to be changed. Grrrrrrrr! So came back home and changed the battery. Took off again and as I was passing over Lake Marsh the view was too good to pass up.

Didn't get back to the tournament but I did have an enjoyable afternoon landing on the lakes and looking for wildlife.

That pic is pretty cool, thanks.  Its interesting to see some of the different flora and fauna that other areas of the country have that Michigan does not.

I haven't put any here for a while so heres one courtesy of bird watching Kathy:

Thanks for the pic's MMM.
Tell Kathy she sure takes good pictures of her birds.
I wish we could see those Pileated Woodpeckers around here. They are cool looking and huge.
The only ones i have seen are up by our lake cottage in Marcellus , MI

Those pictures are phenomenal!!! The bases on those trees in the last picture are very cool. The odd shape has something to do with the very wet climate, right??

 Levi,  Thanks for the compliment.
The trees in the pic are Cypress and more than likely Bald Cypress which are very common in Florida.
I would have to agree with you on the shape of the tree trunk being that way due to the fact that these trees live in areas that are seldom dry.
Those trees are young as I have seen them with a trunk base 5 - 6 feet wide.
Some of the "Oldtimers" i talked to down there claim the old growth trees were 10 - 12 feet across the bases and well over a    100 feet tall.
