My biggest thing I don't care for is Gnome 3. I guess once you get used to it then it is alright. I like LXDE and XFCE.

DS are you using Gnome or Unity? I'm with George and Gnome 3 I really don't care for it. I've been using a Ubuntu off shoot for a while.

well i know i said i hate unity but, i just installed 12.04 on my tablet pc and i must say unity has come a long way. it took 40 minutes from start to finish to get it up and running. which compared to 4-5 hours with 2000 reboots with windozes ,ill stay with Ubuntu.

I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04 also last night and I also downloaded Fedora 17 beta 2 with LXDE. Going to install a second hard drive and dual boot with windows 7 so I can get a Linux desktop back.

I downloaded Unbuntu, But I am having a hard time getting the wireless set up.For some reason It won't let me select enable wireless. And when I enter all the info SSID ect.... It just doesn't do anything. Maybe I just had a bad install? I did the install for the one to run along side Windows 7. It wasn't 12.04 it was 11. I'll try again later.

this is 12.04 or 11.?
if its 12.04 what i did for wireless is clicked on the wireless symbol on the top bar and went to edit wireless i think it was. from there i just chose my wireless connection and it worked. if its 11. something , if i remember right i did pretty much same thing.
if its wubi which if it had you install the wubi installer it could be, then im not sure.

I will prob just uninstall it and start over. I did the edit wireless but nothing works, It just won't enable the wireless. It seems like something glitched during the download.

Chris it sounds like 12 does not have a driver for you wireless add adapter. If that's the case look under system -> Administration-> Windows wireless drivers. It will walk you through the process and then you will be able to set up your wireless connection.
  • chris m said thank you

Got an old P4 1.5 with 1.5 GB of PC100 in the garage that is running 10.04 LTS. I will download 12.04 LTS and give a post back later in the week.
