We were repairing...putting new auger flighting on our silage mixer wagon yesterday. I asked Dad not to grind on the auger tube till I finished plasma cutting, as it would shower me if he did. I no more than lifted my goggles when a mess of grinding crap hit me right in the face. Thought I got lucky, but not to be. Woke up with eye killing me. I also remembered dreaming I got a super tiny baby grasshopper out of my eye. So it was hurting all during the night & I wasn't fully aware. I know I feel as I didn't get any sleep. Should be simple enough to get it cared for. I had to go last year for this too. I would have had safety glasses on, but using the welding goggles, when I took them off I didn't have time to put safety glasses on before it all hit me.

Yep, I had gotten all of it out, but eyeball is swollen, so he gave me meds for that & put in numbing drops. Should be 100% by Friday. He was a very friendly doc and went out of his way explaining stuff. I'm just tired now & may take a nap. Heat index is soon to hit 105 anyway, so I'm not doing anything I don't have to do.

As mentioned, the eye does heal fairly fast.I know,I've had more little bits of steel in my eyes than I want to remember.I even had my left eye cut once, and it healed .

I had 2 cuts on my eye where i got hit by a BB. It didn't pucture my eye. I seamed to caught it with my eye lids. Was very lucky. That was 16 years ago when i first got contacts and stopped wearing glasses. the idea to put on safety glass to shoot didnt cross my mind until then.

I have bad luck with getting stuff in my eyes. I know I could do a better job at keeping my eyes safe but it never fails. I average twice a year that I have to go in to the doctors to get something out. It sucks when it is metal because then they have to drill out the rust ring. Even though you don't feel it, it is weird seeing them do it and then when they are pressing down and with all of the drops in your eye it is like you are underwater looking up at the sun LOL.

I had scabs flaking off of the eye for years (probably 2 or 3 years ) after.

Eyes are both still sore. I had gotten something in both eyes, but the right was the worst. Forgot to say that the doc also said I "might" have a touch of welder flash too. My eyes are still burning some, but mostly itch. Air bothers them, especially blowing air. Just doing what I have to do, plus some work on the Wisconsin engine & decal stuff.

I hope your eyes are feeling better! I have had my share of crap in the eye and it's no fun at all. I am getting pretty good at wearing safety glasses or a face shield now but still end up with something in my eye once in a while.

Eyes giving me fits today. May be because I've been sweating like a faucet turned on. If still acting up in the morning, I'm going back to the eye doc.
