Todays 4020 progress picture shows me tinkering with extending the first front spindle and roughing in the exhaust stack and working on the air cleaner stack. My tires came from Miller tire and I got them mounted on the rims . I also ordered the next set of 7.60-15 lug tires and rims for the narrow front 630 jd. Next week I should get the last two sets of tires ordered for all four tractor projects.

For somebody like me who does not know every detail of a 4020, you could paint it as is, and say it was an exact 1/2 scale, and I would probably believe you. Great work! Keep it up, Don!

Thanks , I had a small lawn care business and snowplowing business for the last 20 years but always enjoyed puttering in the shop.
The 4020 is starting to get a little of the look I am wanting. It's not to scale but it is going to be so fun to drive around and play on when it is done. I am not happy with the look of the tires I got yesterday so i ordered more and hope they look better. I want it to look like the 4020 with front wheel assist from the 70's . If i can't get the right look with lug tires on the front I will have to go with front rib tires . I can't rebuild the front spindles until I know for sure the tires and rims size so i have to hold off yet on the spindles. But still having great fun. Building the five bottom plow to hook behind it will look very cool too. The plow will just be for show. The tractor and plow project will be a dream come true project for me and still very excited to be building it.

Thanks again, there is no doubt you have to have a good imagination in the beginning but most of my projects are a labor of love and i really enjoy the process. Buying something new and putting it in the garage is fun but creating things in the shop is really a challange and exciting. I am always the first to admit I am no expert or even close . Today I am working on gas cap , radiator cap and the air cleaner top parts. I'll post the next picture tonight .

Thanks again, I always wanted a 4020 of my own and finally it looks like I might get one, ha,ha. Or I should say a half of one, ha,ha.
Todays progress picture shows me roughing in more of the aircleaner stack assembly , the two hood caps are done and painted and I am just starting the front center hood fin. You also see in this picture the two newest ag tires i got from Miller tire yesterday. Cute but too small for this project. Tomorrow I will finish the hood emblem and start the front top nose construction. I have not gone to the other side of the tractor yet or did nothing more on the front yet. What a fun project the 110 and this 4020 have been . No news yet on the 110 motor tuneup. Hopefully next week. The mechanic is a nice guy but very, very slow and that is why i got 4 projects going so nothing matters on one project, I can just move to another one.

Don,
There is a JD 4020 at the Boyne Valley Auction site just south of Boyne Falls. Not nearly as good looking as yours but most aren't.

Sale for the big machinery is Saturday and for the smaller items it is Friday afternoon. Went up today and there isn't much there now but hopefully it will fill up in the next couple of days.
