Has anyone else dealt with hiccups that refuse to go away? I don't know what is up but usually I can hold my breathe and they go away. For some reason though it started yesterday on our way home from the plow day I got the hiccups for a good half hour and I couldn't get rid of them. Last night I got them again for about a half hour. Went to bed and woke up to them about half way through the night.

Now today I have had them a couple times for about an hour each time. This last time I have had them for a good hour and a half to two hours. I get to the point I get frustrated and wanna start throwing stuff LOL.

A hiccup is when your esophagus is trying to squeeze food down when it gets stuck, thats why you get them when you dont chew enough. Are you chewing your food enough? Why not let your mom cut your food into littler pieces instead of wolfing it down whole. LOL! I dont know why that would happen. Did you eat something at plow day that could have irritated the lining of your thought and caused it to swell? I think I read a post that they had "fair food" there, that could be it if nothing else.

Eat a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter and they will go away. Always works for me.

George that really sounds bad. I used to get the hiccups when I was a kid but now can't remember the last time I've had them. I hope you can get a handle on the problem. Have you done a web search for a solution?

I know I get them any time I eat starchy foods. I have them again since eating dinner for the last hour. It is starting to get annoying. I also get heartburn quite a bit and maybe it is all related. If it keeps up I might have to go see the doc.

Try a teaspoon of sugar, George! That's supposed to help ( hope you aren't diabetic)!

I got a cure for ya, and it works. have someone stare into your eyes ,distance between the 2 of you is only about a foot or so away from each other. You have to stare back. If you can get past the laughing stage it really does work, and it only takes about 10 or 15 seconds. pick one eye to stare into, same for the other person. Don't look from one eye to the other, don't blink. Try it, it will work. as far as the cause goes, something is giving you heartburn. gotta take it out of your diet, or add something to counter it.

It was only less than an hour since George and I went thru pics to post for Plow Day and he had the hiccups. He also had them yesterday when we were driving home from Plow Day. I know they can be annoying especially when you get them so often. Thanks for all of the help and suggestions.

This has never failed me or those that I've told. Take 3 deep rapid breaths....hold it in. Exhale, then do again for a total of 3 reps.
