Today I started making a step for my "71 so its a little easier to get onto. The top is 5x7 inches and the edge going around the outside is 1 inch. I cut notches out so it will look better and be a little stronger when I weld the pieces on to bolt to the frame. To bend the sides I scored the underside with my grinder so it would bend easy with good corners and make a nice seamless edge.

The two parts coming up will be bolted to the frame through the two slots. I will have to fill the smaller holes in with some weld and grind them flat.

I dont think it really 100% needs it but, I decided to weld a piece on the underside for a little extra support to keep it from flexing.

This is where I will mount it to the frame. I'm going to have to drill a hole in the frame for the front piece, the back will use an existing hole.

I got everything gridded and the edges filed, now I am waiting for welding gas so I can weld it together. I am getting my argon and oxygen bottles filled tomorrow so it should be welded together by tomorrow evening. Thanks for reading!

Thanks guys! You can get away without one on a 16 inch model but even though a 24 is only 3 inches higher I think its needed.

I welded it together, gridded and filed it yesterday and had enough time to paint it before dark.

Don't mind my ugly welds.

I put it on today.

It's so much easier to get onto now and getting off is much easier as well. I stood on it and bounced a little and it had no flex whatsoever. Now I need to make for the '75!

Wow you built that like a tank !!! I wouldn't worry about those welds , I'd worry if I caught it on something I'd bend the FRAME , Al
