B21 for the 24" belt (or 5L240), B39 for the 42" belt (5L420). Pretty much universal globally.

24" and 42" is the approximate outside length, 21" and 39" inside length.

We use inch and mm designations. Solved - I have got hold of some Kevlar belts with the correct outside sizes - 5L 240 and 5L 420...the first time we have ever had the correct belts on this tractor!

Guys, if all else fails, here is a handy link to help you find the length that you need.

It only works for 2 pulleys, like the PTO, started, etc.

Hi

I would like info on the drive belt for a Bolens ST125 (3012h).

I put on an aftermarket and mowed about an acre and at the end of the mow it started to lurch up a hill - sure enough - it shredded it. Worked fine for about 45 minutes.

Also I will note it was a very tough install - not alot of info out there on actual belt path. I was guessing as the previous belt (old) had come apart and I got the tractor as a (I need to move so here you go) gift from my brother.

I believe it is 84 or 84.5" V nelt  but with all the differences in Bolens belts - i bet i put the wrong one on.

Let me know - thanks in advance.

Awesome - Thank you so much for the information.

IMG_4726.JPG

I will contact you later today for the proper belt.

Attached is an image of the belt I used.  As far as it mowing for an hour and then coming apart - I have a few theories:

1. cheap belt

2. wrong size - ie: too tight or loose

3. bad install - wrong path (but why would it work for an hour?

Here is how i installed it:

Looking at the bottom of the mower as if you were laying under it - installed as follows:

belt clockwise around drive pulley

belt goes back and under tensioner sheeve, then over fan pulley

belt goes back forward, to inside of staionary sheeve before going around main drive pulley clockwise

I believe i did it right but who knows.

Thanks for any advice or images in advance.

Jay

Thats just the wrong type of belt for this application, its a regular rubber v-belt not meant for a clutching drive
