Wow, I got to use my Sears GT 18 as a tractor today. Someone had cut a tree limb of about 8" aroung\d and about 20' long on the properity next to ours at the edge of the orange grove and left it lay by the side of the road and it was blocking the view when we pulled out of the driveway, so I took the GT18 up there and hooked a log chain on it and drug it back brhind the trees. At first I thought maybe I would need my Bigger Tractor as it just set there and spun the tires then I saw it was caught on the tree so I back up and turned sharp to the left away from the tree and away we went, no Bigger Tractor needed. Made My Day!! As you can tell I don't get to use my tractors much, no snow or anything like that here in Fla. lol

Those Sears are good machines, I use the one in my avatar currently (the Caterpillar) to drag all sorts of stuff. I have pulled 16 foot long 16 inch tall I-beams around with it (estimate of 500 pounds each). Some of the GT's can easily surprise you.

Glad to know that you got to use your GT for a very good cause. Without any snow to move in Florida, you would only get to use your GT for mowing grass or doing a garden. You actually put the tractor to the test. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to hear you took her out to work a little. Isn't it amazing what these machines can do sometimes?

Thanks for the story.

Any seat time is good time, and you had a productive use for it too. But alas, no pictures :mecry: :mecry: :smilewink:

It's handy to have a tractor arround. I 've used mine to move all kinds of stuff. It's been a slow year up here for snow this year and not much seat time to be had the last few months. You need to keep your eye out for more opportunities for seat time!

yes I do get to mow a lot which I enjoy. I evan mow for some of my friends. I have the big Sears GT18 and a small John Deere 165 that I use to mow smaller yard and Ford 100 with a smaller deck for the smallest yards. That is how I justifie 3 GT's to my wife. Our yard needs the big mower, friend #1 needs the JD and Friend # 2 the small mower deck is very nice. I did not know a small mower would be nice until I tried to turn the big around in a small yard..IMG_3115.JPG
