Good mornign all - sorry ...a newbie here...not sure if I should be posting this....

I recently became the owner of a very nice graden tractor...model 917.273021...I replaced all the filters, blades, fluids etc....I wanted to replace the drive belt as the mower was moving very slowly...I.e. I am thinking belt slippage.....the drive belt replacement is giving me problems as I cannot get the belt over the pulley in the rear...I dont want to take the pulley off if possible...the belt is being obstructed by a bolt near the pulley that is preventing me from easily sliding it around the pulley...I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and a possible solution...thanks all

Rob

Any way to remove the offending bolt? I'm not familiar with this model, so just winging it!
I found an owners manual. Pages 26-27 deal with the motion drive belt. I'll get it uploaded!

Manual is already in there! Page two in the manuals section. Here's the link:

First off, :welcome: to GTTalk!

Second, are you sure you have belt slippage. I found the owners manual here:
http://gardentractor...5-hp-917273021/
And it appears to have a similar setup to one I worked on last year. It was the pulley slipping on the shaft and the pulley is NLA. I will see if I can find the post for you.

If it's not the pulley and the belt is tensioned right, and the engine is running at 3/4 throttle while you're trying it, you could be dealing with an oil (low, dirty, etc) issue with the hydro. Since the filter is not integrated, changing the oil and filter shouldn't be too hard. See pg 52 of the manual to see the external picture.

Good luck

EDIT: found the old thread.
