My 318 b43g always smoked at startup, but now I see it when the front PTO is engaged. I have Mobile synthetic 10w-30 in it now. I was going to switch to straight 30w or 40w in synthetic if I can find it, but probably dino oil. I am trying to push the engine till the winter or next winter when I can get a rebuilt b43g. Are my thoughts on the right track? I know my pistons are leaking oil, I had the heads of to decarbon after my carb went super rich. Got a new carb and points. Anyway what do you guys think?

Thank You and happy Easter!

Amsoil makes a synthetic oil that is rated to replace 30w in air cooled engines if you want to stay with a synthetic. You probably could change back to 30w dino now for the summer and it might reduce your oil consumption.

Im going with Rotella straight 30w. Also going to give engine "Restore" a try, figured if I can limp along by using it, all the better.

Restore is the only "snake oil" product that I have found that works as advertized. I have no idea what's in it or how it works but I have used it in three Ford trucks with over 200,000 miles on them and it made a big difference in all three,

That's good to know. I'll have to look up this "Restore". I've never heard of it before but it sounds like good stuff.
