The 48 year old right front tire on my 900 was too dry rotted to stand the strain of one more revolution and let me down (quite literally). I began a search to no avail looking for a pair of Goodyear Traction Terra tires in 16 x 6.50 x 8.

I ran over to Tractor Supply and discovered not one single American made tire and the tread patterns and profiles are all wrong. I had to get one because we needed the tractor to cut the grass at the hangar, but it looks awful with that goofy profile and tread design.

Does anyone have a line on NOS Goodyear Traction Terra tires? I would even take a used set that were in good condition, anything is better than this import junk. :firejumper:

Your local Goodyear dealer should be able to order them for you.

I talked to three Goodyear dealers local and in other parts of the country. "They" thought I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. "Have'nt seen tires like that available from Goodyear in nary to 30 year", said one of them.

That sucks Fritz. I assume them to be turfs. I have a couple mismatched turfs at home if you need one. But I doubt I have a match for you.

Could you snap a picture of the tire tread? I found some on Ebay but not sure if it is the same tread.

I'm not sure if you'll find the desired Goodyear tires, but you may want to check out Carlisle's offerings.

Here is a link to their site, where you can look at the various styles under their "products" tab, or you can download their pdf catalog.

Its almost impossible to find a tire made in the US anymore.
I am sure you could find a good used one from someone on here or online. That style was quite common and I have see them used on Massey's, Allis Chalmers and a few others.

Maybe someday we should all get together and see about doing a group buy on custom made tires that match the original Goodyear tread.

In my opinion, a Bolens just don't look right when it dosent have its Good Year tires on it.

It appears in the "new" catagory the Carlisle "Turf Trac R/S" is the the most correct looking tire http://www.petestire...-50-8-p680.html.

The Goodyear "Extra Tractction" http://www.cedarrapi...ardenturf-tires looks to be correct, but I am not able to find the correct size.

The key to the correct profile is the rounded shoulders on the tire, giving it a rounded profile when looking head on. The tead pattern looks very good and nearly if not identical to the original Goodyear tires. Although, I have not given up hope yet, I am still looking.

The tire I had to buy at Tractor Supply is like Cinderella going to the ball with combat boots, or Dorothy wearing Nike's instead of the ruby slippers or Fred Astaire tap dancing in Cowboy boots or . . .

I have a tire off a 1050 you can have if you want it and pay shipping. It will probably need a tube which it might have with it.

Your offer is generous, but I believe the front tires on the 1050's were different than the front tires on a 900.

According to the Tube Frame Service Manual, the 900 and 1050 used the same front and rear tire SIZES.

I'm not sure if they used the same Brand/Tread,

Both the 1050 and the 900 did use the same tire size and the good year Brand but the tread was different.

The "square" Tread was used on the 900,1000 and EK7's

Here are pictures of the tire. It was labeled as a Goodyear Terra Tire but I guess it's not the correct one. I was just going to recycle them so I thought it might be a chance for it to go to a new home.
