Worse case is if you can't find your disk, you can either order a new one or I can help you set up a Linux Distro and you can come over to the DARK SIDE! :smilewink:   What do you use the computer for?

This one is nothing but for GTT stuff, cruising ebay, google searches, just general stuff.  I have one running XP upstairs for cutting decals.

Then you would be fine with Linux.  In fact you would not have to worry about surfing and picking up any of the windows diseases  .

Ity may be a while before I get the new HD, but when I do, you'll be hearing from me then!   Does it still use Chrome or Firefox browsers?  Still save pics & stuff just like Windows?

Yep, and more.  Not only can you use Firefox and/or Chrome but there are other browsers you can try.  The Distro I have in mind for you will come with just about every type of program you may want and if it doesn't all you will have to do is open the software center and dl the one you do want.  When you're ready let me know and I'll walk you through it over the phone.

Will do Bill!  Thanks!  I'm usually slow to change, but every time I've accepted change, it's been for the good.

Wish I could be that confident/versatile. I still one-finger type, and every time I use this thing I sit beside an open window so I don't break it when I feel like pitching the lap top out off the second story in frustration. lol However I am posting, so it isn't all bad. I guess olde dogs can learn new tricks, it just takes us longer.

Thought I posted this, but maybe I didn't.  The dairy hit 10 miles north of me in my county....destroyed!!  Nothing but the shell of the milk parlor itself left.  Freestalls gone, holding pen at milk parlor gone.  A large hay barn gone, and grain bins destroyed.  Looks like we'll go from a 4 dairy county to just 3.  They took all their cattle to a consignment dairy sale place a few counties away.  They milked at least 150 cows.  Their Dad (88yrs old)just passed away about 2 weeks ago, so they're going through a lot of pain & grief right now.  Their dairy began around the same time ours did, in the late 50's.

Wow, that is such a chain of catastrophe for them.  I can see the abrupt decision to sell off and get out under those circumstances.

Sure will be thinking about them.

That's kind of a gut wrenching story. I hope things turn around for them in the near future.

So sorry to hear a story like that. Life can be so cruel at times.  But like Willie said glad you didn't get hit.

"Rock Brother's Dairy" in the Roanoke area.  Doubt you ever even met them.
