Bad storms almost on us right now.  Looks wicked!  Tornado warning near us, but not heading toward us.  High straight line winds about to hit our area. attachicon.gifstorm.jpg

It sure is the opposite of last year.

All is well here, just some moderate wind and an inch of rain.  A dairy 10 miles north in my county lost a free stall barn and 2 or 3 cows.  Not got the facts just yet.  No people injured that I know of.

Computer was unhooked, but this morning it refused to load up.  Said "missing operating system".  After 4 more attempts, it finally loaded up.  Worried it's a hard drive going bad.

Glad all is well Daniel.  We are supposed to get some of it down here but from what I understand it all depends on where the line is at noon as to weather we will get a lot of rain and storms or not.  We'll see.

Ya, it sounds like you are getting ready to lose a hard drive.  Better do a back up of your data while you can.

Cows milked, computer backed up, 8 calves dehorned, and got supplies off my dairy supply guy.  Productive day so far.

Might want to check the battery in the 'puter. If it hasn't been replaced in a while, then it doesn't keep your basic IO system and makes that error come up!

If it's the battery on the mother board then you usually get it asking for the date and time each time you boot.  If it is telling him it can't find an OS then most likely the hard drive is not spinning up.

Daniel on thought just came to mind, open the case and make sure all your connections are good and solid, but I have seen this message before and it usually means that the HD is on it's way out.

I unplugged & checked all connections before posting anything here.  I didn't hear/feel anything from the HD when I turned it on, but they are quieter these days.  I can't find my Acronis disk and I never installed it on this computer, but it's installed on another.  I would just buy another HD & do a exact copy, but I don't think I can without that DVD :wallbanging: !

Didn't you just get this computer not long ago?  Maybe it is still under warranty?  What OS is it running?

Do you have to have Windows?

It's all I've ever used is all.  I suppose I could try something new.
