Hope you have gas for your torches. Hitting metal with the drill bit won't be good for it.

Just finished torqueing down the first column. 2 holes hit steel mesh, but the bit made it through one, and the other was deep enough for specs.
Man was it tiring pulling those 6 bolts down to 130 foot pounds! Now to install the cross member.

Both columns plumb, bolted down, and cross member installed.  My shoulders and neck are sure aching from torquing these twelve 3/4" concrete anchor bolts!  No way I could have gotten this thing put together by myself had I not had this scissor man-lift!  That cross member was sure heavy, but laid it on top of the man-lift and raised her on up.  Now to work on the hydraulic lines, leveling cables, and such.

On a sad note, Adam Whitlock, son of my 1st cousin Greg who died in a motorcycle wreck not long ago.....he also died last night in a motorcycle wreck.  I just learned of it a while ago.  He went out riding last night, but never came home.  He was found this morning, having been dead several hours.  He was riding his Dad's other Harley.  He'd been upset over his Dad's things being sold to settle debts.  I hardly knew Adam, but sure hate to hear it of course.   This year I've been to more funerals than the last several years combined.

That's the last thing you should do is ride a motorcycle when your upset.

Sad story. I'll bet his mother is about fit to be tied.

I would love to have a hoist in my garage/shop . I've thought about it but I don't have the head room at only 10 feet ceiling there just wouldn't be enough room.Looks good and sure envy your hoist.

That and drinking are the two worse thing you can do on a bike.  Showing off is the next item on the list.  I feel for the family and their losses.

That and drinking

I've helped load the aftermath of one of those accidents into an ambulance. Not a pretty sight or one you will ever forget. That was the only cycle accident I've seen where the driver went farther down the ditch than the bike. Just to give you an idea, you couldn't tell what kind of motorcycle it was until you saw the name on the side case. Just a ball of metal and scattered parts.

Long long day!  Was at work and Dad called  a bit after 10am in pain.  Left work and he could hardly stand for pain in his legs.  Decided best to call ambulance.  He is admitted as all his bloodwork came back with all #'s being on the low side.  No single one real bad, just all lower than should be, but the main issue to admitting him was low kidney function.  They will run more tests tomorrow.  He was feeling pretty good when I came home.  He ate supper and wanted to get some sleep.  My brother David is going up in the morning, as work needs me tomorrow if at all possible.
