Been working on the Onan going into the Caddigger.  Took the intake & exhaust off so I could check valve lash.  Very little change since the rebuild, but tweaked the intake valves just .001" each.   Took carb top off and inside was clean as a whistle.  Put the carb & intake back on.  I also welded the new sprocket/hub together.  Almost surely have to cut the crank short so there will be room behind the engine pump adapter for the crank to pump shaft adapter.  My engine/pump adapter won't be in till Friday the soonest, so I'll work on other things till then.

I also cleaned up the points & set static timing.

The only thing I didn't like about the Onan, was the way they mounted the air filter to the carburetor, the screws would come loose and go down into the engine. Happened to me probably about 3 or 4 times. Time the use the blue or red to make sure they don't come out lol

I made up a piece of window screen to cover mine! Needs to be bowed up some to clear the choke!

Wow....my engine pump mount will be delivered today, as it shows it arrived at my local post office early this morning!  Was estimated for Friday.  I should have it all running by end of the week now.

Got my silage fed to the heifers, and shop is heated up.  Going to do some wiring today.  The Teledyne had it's own ignition, so the battery just cranked it over.  This one will have a charging system and needs it, as the coil is battery powered, plus it will have an electric fuel pump. I had a bracket for 3 gauges, but welded a plate over the center, then bored a hole for the key switch.  To each side will be a gauge, one ammeter, the other oil pressure.  I need to weld on a plate where the voltage regulator, electric fuel pump, and starter solenoid will mount.

Got the wiring finished except the wires need to be cut to length that go to the engine stator & coil.  I'll cut them to proper length once engine is set in.  I need to scrounge up some wire loom or buy more.

I was going to connect the tubing to the gauge end, but seen this kit just came with 5' of tubing, which isn't enough.

The electric fuel pump will mount on this plate as well, but a friend borrowed it to test his tractor and I need to go pick it up.  He's finished with it, so I'll get it then drill mounting holes.

That crossed my mind, but not anytime soon.
I'm still down at the shop, but spent a lot of the afternoon straightening things up. Neck has been aching today so took a pain pill, and they slow me down. I usually need only one pain pill every week or 2.

Yeah I only take one if I really need it. Today was the day. They last 8 hours, so one gets me through a work day. I'm fixing to call today's work done.
