I thought Kentucky had warm winters ?

So did we... this January has been unusually cold.

Sure has been a cold one this winter, we were due. The last few years have been relatively warm and no snow. My old Ky mother ( see I fit in :smilewink: )  lives by the farmers' almanac, she said it will be cold through March and that March is supposed to be the heaviest snow month :wallbanging:

Just got back from my heart doc, had an echocardiogram and all is ok, just need to get the palpitations slowed.  He put me on a different pill to see if it'll do the trick.  In the meantime, as I drove into the home area, I spotted a dry cow flopped on it's side.  Gotta get all wrapped up & head out to check her.

Well, lost another cow.  This one was an older cow, so likely the cold was more than she could handle.  It happens, so I can't let it upset me.  I have to put my attention to what I can prevent or take care of, not mull over what I can't change.  I have some more compressed sawdust coming in a little while, along with milk cow minerals and molasses lick tubs.

I know it's just the end of January, but I'll sure be glad when this cold is outta here!

By the way, this cow was not down when I left for town at 9am, that I do know.  Where she was, I'd have spotted her immediately.

You may see snow down in Texas!  Brian (Texas Deere & Horse) had 27F this morning, and he's quite a ways down, in Seguin, TX.

Got the 1655D started a lot easier today.  Can't wait to have a block heater installed though, as then it'll be a breeze.  Had to clean out the alleys again in the free stall barn.  Have 2 big piles of half frozen poo.  Monday we'll have a big poo pushing with the old wheel loader.  The Cat 910 is too tall to go through the barn.

I've been slacking on pics lately, so went out & took a couple of my beautiful poo-piles my 1655D built.

25 was the low with 3/8" of ice on everything.  These folks down here just don't know what to do in these conditions. I must of seen 50 cars and tractor trailers in the ditches driving to work this morning.

3/8" of ice on the roads is bad conditions for anywhere.

The real question is, how high can you stack it?
