Hmmm, better prices than I got, but then this place is known to be higher.  But they have the shop to do all the shearing & braking, and they only work steel purchased from them.   The nearest other place that could do this for me is a long enough drive to eat up any savings I might get there.

Thanks for posting the video, the equipment and procedure weren't exactly what I was expecting. But now I have a much better understanding of what you're doing, most people never realize all the behind the scenes work that goes on when working with livestock especially when it comes to keeping them healthy and happy. The happy part may sound silly to some but I always went by the saying a happy pig is a healthy pig. Here's to you having a smooth and trouble free day! :beerchug:

Doesn't look lit the cows really enjoy that. Although I can't say that having someone burn the hair off my nipples sounds like fun either.

The cows weren't any problem getting flame clipped.  The cows will be much cleaner now, and easier to prep for milking, and that makes them happier.....and me too!   In fact, I finished that, then pulled the silage mixer wagon into the shop & I got the 2 small leaks patched in the rear.  After lunch I'll get the big hole patched.  So far, so good!

Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs went to a huge dairy farm, they had 40 cows on a milking rotisserie, and he got to burn the hair from the teets/udders. They did it so quick, cows didn't  seem to mind.

Got the silage wagon finally patched up.  It was a mess to deal with, as I had to get inside it & cut out the patch that the welds had worn through, then it lifted the one end of the patch & twisted it into a mess.  Used torch to cut out the mess, then had to cut a patch to fit & get it welded in.  Took almost 3 hours, but finally done.  It's extremely difficult working on the inside, as the 20" auger is right next to the floor.  Impossible to be comfortable with the auger flights.  Legs are twisted when you get down there low to work....very painful after just a few minutes.

I will definitely need to rent  wagon for a couple weeks to fix this wagon right.  I am going to remove the lower auger to make it much easier to deal with.  The whole bottom is getting cut out.  Just too much of a patched mess to leave it, as it would make the new floor too close to the auger.  I dread the job, but once done, it'll be good for at least 10 years.

I still have to feed silage yet, but almost done for the day.

I'll tell you one thing....I won't be doing this kind of job in 10 years!  Besides, the rest of this wagon will be shot by then.

I checked on Netflix, but that episode wasn't on there at this time.  I'll keep checking their listings from time to time.
