Brian, just found this! Sorry to hear of their loss. Yes, possessions can be replaced, but that Hope chest contained the biggest part of irreplaceable things. Got it made it out. I hope and pray all goes well with the rebuild for them.

Brian, sorry to hear of their loss, fortunately they got out of it OK physically. The other mental part will take a while to recover. I wish them and the rest of you affected the best in the recovery.

So far this is what I have found out. The house might be rebuildable. The fire started in the mechanical room in the basement and burnt up inside the walls until it burnt thru the roof. I think they will save some stuff, but a lot has been lost.

Thank You from the bootom of my families heart for all the PRAYERS and Well wishes.

Here are a few photo's;

Brian, sorry your family is having to go through this. Thankfully everybody made it out safe. I know memories were lost and cant be replaced but they will be able to make new ones. I am sure that the FD has put your inlaws in touch with Red Cross and that the insurance agent has already helped them to find a place to stay. After the shock wears off they will see this as a mixed blessing. Prayers have been sent and if we can help let us know.

I'm sorry that I was so long finding this thread Brian. Thankfully your in-laws were unharmed. The material things can be replaced but they can't. Hopefully some treasured memories were not damaged. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers as they try to rebuild.

God has been looking out for them
I lost my house to a fire back in 1991 and lost just about every thing we had.
It was hard on my son, he was 2 1/2 then. Had a hard thing explaining that all his toys and cats are gone.

My wife and me still think about it from time to time. It is hard to forget. You always remember things that you had.
We have great neighbors and friends that helps a lot.

Best you and your family
Hope for the best and you might get it
