The pics were taken same day, bottom pic 12:36, top 12:52. We have been looking too and she is now pretty sure on the beaver in the water. Seems too big and far off the ground to be a mink on the dock though, she would guess a little over two foot long. Thoughts welcome.

edit
MIND YOU GUYS, Kathy took the picture it would have been much clearer if it were mine :smilewink: she said she was lucky to have the camera on her neck and had just a second for a pictue.

I'll say otter on the first and beaver on the bottom. Around here mink have a shorter stubbier head.

I agree with otter and beaver.

Maybe next time she could trade the camera for a .22. Just kidding. Really I am.

The one in the water is a beaver. I would say the one in the top photo is a mink.

Both the otter and mink could be about 2 foot long, so I voted for the "Greger"!

I say the top photo is an otter. We see them at camp a lot. The second photograph looks like a beaver. You are lucky to heve so much wildlife around.

I will go with Otter in the top picture and Beaver in the second. Around here a mink would be about 1 1/2-2 inches around the chest they are all fur and not much under it. Someone mentioned Weasel, they are smaler that a mink. And the otter is about twice the size of either.
My son has been trapping all winter and has caught a lot of beaver. They can go from about 25lbs up to one that weighed 50 lbs. And while I was typing this Bailey sent me a text, saying he got anothe coyote this morning.

By the way you have to be a pretty good outdoorsman and photographer to get picture of any of them!!
The are pretty skitish.

I'm gonna say otter for the top photo too. Minks are typically more slender than the creature in the pic. I think that the bottom pic is definitely a beaver.

Hey everyone thanks for all the input. I got to thinking that we had a few pictures of something a few years or so ago so I went Hard Drive surfing tonight and found these from 2010, looks like the same shape?
IMG_1011 1024x768.JPG IMG_1013 1024x768.JPG IMG_1014 1024x768.JPG right about dead center of the last pic.

We went out after these pics and followed the tracks. It came out of an approximate 3 inch round hole at the edge of the snow/ice at the water line, circled around behind our house where I shot it, not with a .22 though Bill :smilewink: , I can tell they are my pictures cause they are in focus :laughingteeth: then continued around my brothers cabin and went back in a similar size hole at the waters edge over there.

More evidence of an otter??
