Bad picture taken by Kathy on our dock, we think maybe an otter, beaver, mink,(not a muskrat), any other input?IMG_1195.JPG
and maybe the same thing in the water
IMG_1194.JPG
I am pretty sure thats the same creature I had seen the day before on the south end of our island, crossing our causeway to get from one channel to the other one.

Bottom picture looks like a beaver for sure, but the top picture doesn't look like a beaver walking. Beavers don't usually have that much ground clearance between the ground and their belly. Walks more like an otter than beaver. Just my two cents, and may be wrong entirely.

What's in the water loooks like a beaver. The top pic is a more slender animal with a slender nose, not as blunt as a beaver nose. I think it's a type of otter.

I dont think it has the body mass to be a beaver. When I first saw it I thought it was a mink. And looking at the pic, I think the head shape proves its not an otter. Im going with my first instinct, mink. I could be wrong though!

I thought that at first also, but looking at the pic it seems like the tail falls over the side and is longer then we can see.

I think the top is mink. Would be nice to have something in the pic, to scale it's size. But the way it walks, with
the arched back, I gotta say mink.
Bottom looks like beaver.

I have been too. I think we could go back and forth forever without getting anywhere. Either way, I still think the top is a mink, the bottom is not a mink.

Greg, did you wake the pics at different times, or did you take a pic of it walking then another of it swimming away?
