I am slowly buying parts to restore the 1855 and Partstree.com is showing Snapper 1650 decals are available. They cost twice as much MF 1855 decals from MapleHunter. Any thoughts on keeping it badged as a Snapper?

I don"t know how much bigger the 1855 hood is compared to 1650. the decals are a different part number but should be able to center them up. Thanks to Joe's Outdoor Power, it will have a 3 point soon. Still need to make the hydraulic valve handle for the rear, that should be Fun!

A 3pt. Sweet! That really increases the usefulness of any tractor.

Here is a pic of a simple option for the control lever.
lever.jpg

Looks easy to reproduce, just two pieces of stock bent and connected.

Here is one I have been working on. I used a side grinder with a cutoff wheel, drill and bits, and hand files. its not finished yet. i still have some work to do to make it look a little better.

I know this is an old thread, but I just picked up a Snapper 1855 and I'm not sure if I want to paint it up as a Snapper or a Massey.  Hmmmmm, any suggestions?

IMG_0124.JPG IMG_1087.JPG jpswift1,

I think it boils down to what you like best.  Or if you want to keep it original or  not.  I picked up a non running Snapper 1855 over a year ago.  I got it running, had a rotten rear tire so I mounted some implement tires/wheels I picked up at a swap meet that fit the bolt pattern of the Snapper.  I bought it for a project I wanted to do but realized it was going to be a while before I got to it so I decided to clean/paint it up for now.  I went with the Massey decals/paint just because that was my preference. IMG_0125.JPG

Sorry but the pictures were out of sequence but I went back to the stock rims and replaced the seat but you get the idea.  It all comes down to what you like.  Have fun :dancingbanana:

Dugmf12,

Thanks for posting the pics.  The more I thought about it, the more I liked the Massey version of the tractor.  Plus, my friend gave me a nice Massey Ferguson dump cart that will match it perfectly.

I ordered a MF 1855 decal set from Maple Hunter today and a set of V61 Verstein front rib tires.  I already have a nice set of 4 ply 26x12x12 Goodyear Super Terra Grips in the garage that I'll be mounting on the rear.  I also have about 120lbs of rear cast iron wheel weights that I'll be putting on it too.  Hopefully when I'm all done with it, mine will look just like yours.  Very nice tractor you have there!  I never saw one in person until this week when I picked mine up, WOW!  Aren't you guys amazed as to how big and heavy they are?  Like someone mentioned in another thread, they're just a hair smaller the size of a sub compact utility tractor.

Just looking around at Maple Hunters and saw this.

Did Massey ever sell a 1455?

I seen that when I was looking for decals too. Never hear of one. Lol. He has great looking decals for the older series. But I don't like how small the MF is on the XX50,and XX55 series. And they are no longer avalible from the dealers.

I haven't got any from MH yet to see what the MF is scaled to. It appears to be ok in the decal pics on there site.

Your thoughts.

Yes,the prices are really reasonable. But I haven't found any that are exactly the same as the originals. Someone here should get their hands on a big enough printer and start repoping these. I imagine there would be a lot of us interested in getting them.
